Alessia is a PhD student in Comparative Literature at the University of Glasgow. Her thesis ‘Mental Illness and Female Creativity in the 20th century. A Comparative Study of Leonora Carrington and Alda Merini’ focuses on two female creators and the autobiographical works they produced as a result of their experiences of hospitalisation in psychiatric institutions. Alessia has a particular interest in feminist literary theory, self-narrative, and narratives of trauma.
